KUALA LUMPUR, 17 Sep - Kerajaan MADANI hari ini memutuskan untuk menambah baik mekanisme subsidi bil elektrik dengan memperluaskan paras perlindungan daripada 600 kWj kepada 800 kWj sebulan. Perdana Menteri, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim berkata, inisiatif berkenaan akan berkuat kuasa bagi penggunaan elektrik mulai September hingga 31 Disember 2026. Menurut beliau, langkah itu diperkenalkan sebagai tindakan segera bagi membantu mengurangkan tekanan kos sara hidup yang sedang dihadapi rakyat. "Melalui langkah ini, pengguna domestik yang menggunakan elektrik sehingga 800 kWj sebulan akan diberikan perlindungan membabitkan pengecualian Pelarasan Kos Bahan Api Automatik (AFA), Caj Peruncitan dan Cukai Jualan dan Perkhidmatan (Sales & Service Tax)," katanya. Sebelum itu, Anwar mempengerusikan mesyuarat berhubung kos elektrik di pejabatnya bersama wakil Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST), Kementerian Peralihan Tenaga dan Transformasi Air (PETRA) serta Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB). "Sekalung penghargaan khususnya kepada pihak TNB, PETRA dan Suruhanjaya Tenaga atas peranan mereka dalam memungkinkan langkah ini diambil dalam kadar segera," katanya. Perdana Menteri berkata, keadaan jerebu dan cuaca yang lebih panas sejak kebelakangan ini turut menyumbang kepada peningkatan penggunaan elektrik dalam kalangan sesetengah isi rumah, menyebabkan penggunaan bulanan mereka melebihi paras 600 kWj, sekali gus mengakibatkan peningkatan bil elektrik yang luar biasa. #BeritaKS
