I love TBs but I don’t blame people for not wanting them. One of my TBs passed away this year, another retired at 10yo because of his arthritis and my new TB who I’ve had for like 6 months is on stable rest for the second time since I’ve had him lmao

Like you said varies horse to horse - however I don’t think a beginner should be matched with a fresh OTTB. One that’s retrained and settled in their work absolutely could be suited, but unfortunately sometimes given the inexperience of the rider and the price beginners end up with OTTB’s and get out horsed pretty quick! Coming from a beginner who got an OTTB 🙋♀️😅

My 1* thoroughbred did everything in a plain snaffle, 1* eventer doing it on a snaffle, if that doesn’t say something I don’t know what does. I have another one and he just lopes around jumping everything you point him at.

Yep! Yep, yep! My kids learnt to ride on a 15.3hh TB - few ponies came to his temperature and quietness. And agree TB movement suits most amateurs/ novice, I understand WB or purpose bred for more advanced riders.

I was literally the same when I was 15 looking for a new horse I didnt want a thoroughbred but went and looked at one and ended up buying him anyway😂 fast forward 5 years I still have him and have just got a 6yr old tb gelding😅 They are great imo🙂

My sweet girl is an ottb. She was retired from consistant work 2 yrs ago. She was too much horse for me when i got her but i worked on it. We became a great match. She is a very spicy girl but i figured out how to work with it.

I have a OTT as my 2nd horse Omgudness the sweetest boy .. perfect beginner horse .. just wants to plod I absolutely adore thouroughbreds.. My 23yr old Clydesdale x appy is hectic.. very forward ..just wants to run lol not a beginner horse lol

There are SO many for sale, like you throw 2000 people in a stadium or whatever and you are bound to have what looks like common injuries, behaviour, etc. the truth is that there are also SO many OTTBs that are the cream of the crop
