What Is God Doing When You Knowingly Keep on Sinning? Three truths many believers never fully understand. Hebrews 10:26 gives us a serious warning: “For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins.” Why does Scripture speak so strongly? Here are three truths you need to understand. First: Willful sin is different from weakness. Every believer can stumble. We all have moments of weakness, and God is rich in mercy. But Hebrews 10 is warning about something deeper. You know what God says, yet you deliberately keep choosing the opposite. The Holy Spirit convicts you, but you keep saying: “I will change later.” You know the path is wrong, but you keep returning to it. That is no longer simply stumbling. It is resisting the truth you already know. The problem is not that Christ’s sacrifice is too weak. The danger is that a person keeps rejecting the very truth that calls them back to Him. Second: One of the most frightening judgments is when God lets a person continue in the path they insist on choosing. Romans chapter 1 says that God: “gave them up unto their own hearts’ lusts.” God does not always judge immediately. Sometimes there is no sudden disaster. No visible punishment. The greater danger can be this: The warnings become quieter. Conviction begins to fade. Your heart becomes less sensitive. And eventually, sin no longer troubles you the way it once did. That is a dangerous place. Third: If you still feel conviction, God may still be calling you back. You sin, and something inside you hurts. You feel uneasy. You know it was wrong. You are still struggling. Do not ignore that. The most dangerous condition is not the struggle itself. It is becoming numb. Sin without sorrow. Disobedience without conviction. A heart that can walk away from God and feel nothing. If you are still wrestling, do not give up. Turn back. God can still restore a heart that is willing to repent. Remember this: Sin rarely destroys a person in one moment. It hardens the heart one compromise at a time. The first compromise feels small. The next one feels easier. Then prayer becomes quieter. Conviction becomes weaker. Until one day, the heart barely responds to God at all. Hebrews 10:26 is not a casual warning. It is an alarm: Do not keep choosing darkness after God has shown you the light.
