@calixrn: As Sephiroth burned the town to the ground, murdered most of its people, and maimed Tifa, Cloud knew he couldn't stand by anymore and attacked the villain in a rage. While the one-winged angel had the upper hand at first, stabbing Cloud with the Masamune sword, Cloud managed to turn the tables through sheer adrenaline. Despite an injury from Sephiroth's blade, Cloud used the sword to lift his opponent who was still hanging on to the handle of the sword and threw him into the Lifestream below. Sephiroth's body wouldn't completely deteriorate in the Lifestream and eventually crystallized in the Northern Crater, where he lay waiting for five years.
