I have 4 jars of buttons and an old train case full of buttons. Some I inherited from my grandma, a friend gave me a jar. I bought a jar at an antique store. Not sure where I got a couple of the jars. I’ve also bid on buttons on eBay, that was fun 😁

Well, we had button jars because we sewed we made clothes we replaced buttons when an outfit was beyond repair and discarded we salvaged everything salvageable lace trim buttons maybe a collar, etc. Today’s buttons just aren’t interesting. The reason grandma‘s button jar is interesting. Is those are old beautifully made buttons. Buttons were made of bone they were made of different metals they were made of wood they were created and designed now they’re just simple plastic discs.

old worn out clothes that you throw out. take buttons off and save them. new clothes come with extra buttons and you save them too

Mine was from clothes that have spares attached, destroyed clothes, dog toys and teddy bears. They just accumulate and never get used 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I started one years ago, I would find buttons every where and add them to my jar. button that comes off old clothes even buttons from the dryer.

If you buy shirts that have buttons, a lot of times there’s an extra button attached to the shirt somewhere or to the tag and that’s how I accumulated extra buttons.
