as someone who watches baseball every day in the summer and goes to 20 games a year, I couldn’t disagree more. players support it too as it shaves off ~25 minutes a game, it makes a huge difference over the course of 162 games

Danny :
This is a very intense take about a clock that shaved just 24 minutes off the average game

The pitch clock actually has been really successful at growing the game as a television product

Baseball fans love the fact that their games are way shorter then they used to be, more action, more cool moments, more cool defensive play because all the players can’t stand one one side of the field.

I actually miss the days before the pitch clock

The pitch clock, ABS challenges, and extra games ghost runners not only make the game faster, it adds new elements to watch. Pitch clock violations AND manipulation. “He challenged the pitch? Is he right? Is he right? Bahhhhh no!!!” And then the head start in extra innings makes it feel like lightning round. It’s fun! I am in favor of all these changes!

Few things I hate with modern day baseball is having a ghost runner in extra innings , most player wants to hit homerun and not hitting for contact and I missed when players used to tackle the catcher

the pitch clock is generally regarded as one of the best things to have been added to the game recently. that and challenging calls/pitches.

even at its lo gest baseball still has more action per minute than the nfl. now its just more condensed. and im here for it. on TV its perfect. in person it actually felt too fast.

no disrespect but this does sound like a take from someone who doesn’t actively watch baseball

The pitch clock has been one of the best changes a professional sports league as made in recent memory.
Games move quickly and don't just drag on forever as guys walk around the mound and the batters box adjusting themselves. Combined with limits to mound visits it's been a hugely positive change for the sport.

if you (try) to watch 162 games a year, the shorter games are much appreciated.

I also don't watch something regularly but then complain years later after they changed the thing I don't watch😂

I actually dont mind not having to watch a batter readjust his gloves, guards, and helmet after watching a ball fly past him for 25 minutes.

It used to be waiting and then became watching each batter’s “routine” before every single pitch. Thank goodness for the clock

I mean everyone’s ragging on the pitch clock but games can still run pretty long with it, it’s all about your mastery of the game. Pitch sequencing and framing and how the batter responds. I’ve been to games this season as long as 5 hours

The pitch clock has been one of the best rule changes and most of the players like it. Also there is 162 games so having a little bit shorter games is completely fine

I went to one baseball game as a kid and it was fun for the first hour, after that I was just sitting there bored out of my mind asking my dad how many innings there are

I’ve accepted that I’m in the minority on this, but 100% agree. The pitch clock has been so bad for baseball radio broadcasts in particular.
