Instead, the sounds of the environment become the music. A cough. A movement. A breath. The sound of the room itself. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Berliner Philharmoniker and Kirill Petrenko included 4’33” in a concert shortly before the Philharmonie closed in November 2020.
