It looked cool and even though it was not captioned it looked like they were signing so I watched… and I didn’t understand any of it. I went to the comments and saw deaf people in the comments explaining how this isn’t ASL and jus clarifying what made it not ASL. Valid, because we all know how ASL trends on TikTok end up with the ASL being butchered when it’s viral. Anyway, what I read next, I see more often now… If a Deaf person says this isn’t ASL, often a hearing person will comment and say: Actually, there are regional signs and the way someone signs in Texas isn’t the same as someone signing in Colorado… We know regional sign. And we also know when it is NOT it. Regional sign doesn’t mean that someone in Texas will not be understood at all by someone from Colorado. It’s the same ASL for us, it’s just that you have some flavor to your signing, your sprinkles, your different seasoning from that region. It does not mean we sign completely different.
