Maybe controversial, but movement is part of our kids’ daily routine. 🤎 Just like brushing their teeth, reading and doing their chores, we want moving their bodies to feel like a normal part of life too. For us, that might be playing outside, riding bikes, sports, running around or working out with us. With our oldest, we consistently practice some of the basics too—push-ups, pull-ups, squats, lunges—and teach her what good form looks like. Our two youngest usually end up jumping in and following along. 😂 I want them to grow up knowing HOW to move and train so that someday when they walk into a gym, they feel confident in what they’re doing instead of intimidated by it. And we try to teach the other stuff along the way too. They’re in the kitchen with us learning what a balanced plate looks like, why we eat protein, carbs, fruits + veggies, and how different foods help our bodies. As they get older, we’ll keep teaching them more about nutrition, strength training and how to take care of themselves. It’s not about calories, weight or what their bodies look like. Exercise isn’t a punishment and food isn’t something they have to “earn.” We just want our kids to grow up knowing how to take care of themselves. We live in a world where it’s really easy to sit and be entertained all day, so this is one of those things we choose to be intentional about while they’re little. Brush your teeth. Read your books. Eat good food. Move your body. Go PLAY. Health is a life skill, and we want to teach it like one.
