@rachaeltrimboli: Things I stopped doing once I got serious about money. ๐ ๐ณ use a debit card. I use a credit card for everything now and pay it off in full every single month. Better fraud protection and I earn points on money I was already going to spend anyway. ๐ฐ keep money in a checking account doing nothing. I keep the majority of our cash in high yield savings accounts where it is actually earning interest. ๐ฌ Comment HYSA below and I will send you the ones I personally recommend. ๐ worry about looking rich. I genuinely do not care about the designer bag anymore. Being rich is so much more important than looking rich. And those two things are very different. ๐ผ assuming my corporate job was the ultimate security. It was not. Nothing is guaranteed. Building multiple income streams online is the only real security I have found. ๐ assuming buying a house is always better than renting. Run the numbers for your specific situation. Your mortgage is the minimum you will pay every month. The math does not always work out the way people think. ๐ excessive personal care services I choose some services and ditch others. I get my hair done once a year, no eye lash extensions, and nails are done on special occasions โsaying yes to everything. Money discipline means sometimes I say no. Not depriving myself โ just being intentional about what actually aligns with my goals. The common thread in all of these? Getting intentional. Questioning what I was told was normal. And deciding that building real wealth matters more than performing it.
