A 2026 Blood paper tested blood across four EDS types, hypermobile included, plus a classical-EDS mouse model. Their platelets activated poorly. Talin-1 picked up less phosphorylation, integrin alphaIIbbeta3 activated less, and the platelets aggregated and spread poorly. GPVI and PAR1 were lower too. The authors say platelet dysfunction likely contributes to bleeding complications in EDS. In the same group's earlier study, 32 of 52 EDS patients scored abnormal on a bleeding questionnaire, against 0 of 52 controls. The limit: one lab study, several EDS types, no human sample size we could verify. None of it establishes what causes one person's bruising. Not a doctor, not medical advice.
