Sometimes, you meet people at the lowest points of their lives. You feed them, shelter them, support them financially and help them find their feet. But when they finally begin to stand on their own, their priorities change. They develop their own opinions, make independent decisions and begin to explore possibilities beyond the life they once knew. And suddenly, you feel betrayed. But remember, the person you helped survive may eventually want to live beyond the circumstances in which you met them. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs helps us understand how our priorities and motivations can change as our circumstances improve. When survival consumes your attention, you may have little room to think about self expression, independence and personal fulfilment. But when those basic needs become more secure, you may begin to desire more than survival. You may want to discover yourself, take risks and make your own choices. That does not automatically make you ungrateful. Of course, independence is not an excuse to disrespect those who helped you. Gratitude matters. But gratitude is not permanent submission, and helping someone does not give you ownership of their future. If you love someone, make room for their growth. Do not punish them for becoming independent simply because you were more comfortable when they needed you. Love the person, not just the version of them that needs you. 📖 Galatians 6:2 (NIV) “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Helping people through difficult seasons is an expression of love. But healthy support should respect their dignity and allow them room to grow. The goal is not to make people dependent on you forever. It is to help where you can, love without controlling, and respect their capacity to direct their own lives. #HumanBehaviour #PsychologyOfRelationships #HealthyBoundaries #PersonalGrowth #ChristianLiving
