private pensions have been around for 150 years, also if you have a state pension and a private pension you will pay tax so pensioners still contribute to the country.

Do you know taxes were far more in the 80’s than they are now! You feel for today’s youth not being able to afford a private pension, what about the older people that paid much higher taxes!

Paying NI isn’t diligent it’s compulsory just like other taxes. You don’t get praise for doing what you are legally obliged to do. I’ve got my 35+ years in and will be happy to have a double lock when I get my state pension if it helps the pension survive for those that need it.

If they don’t get the state pension they will get a pension credit benefit despite NOT having worked enough to pay the full 35 years of National Insurance

Why do pensioners think they deserve to have more funds given to them while complaining about people on benefits. You knew the money you’d get from the state for retirement, if you can’t live on £1k a month while having a free bus pass and other cheaper programs offered with a paid off house, while not have set aside anything over 40+ years then that’s a them problem. If I was there age, I’d be telling them to invest into the future of the country instead of funding the retirement home the UK has become.
