I’m sorry but I have to disagree. Whenever I’ve asked them to repeat it I get “ you heard me” or they just repeat it again with even more conviction!! And adding some extra insults along with the first lot. When the second question you suggested comes in “did you say that to embarrass me etc” ? Their reply is no, I said it because it’s the truth. The best way then to deal with this is to just walk way
