@mr.columbiamo: The "Phantom Car" of Rothwell Park in Moberly, Missouri, is a famous local legend from the early 1960s involving a mysterious vehicle seen parked on the lake dam at night that would vanish as drivers approached. Beginning around November 1962, teenagers and local residents reported seeing an uncanny apparition resembling an older car—speculated to be an early 1950s model—parked along the dam at the south end of Rothwell Lake. When onlookers viewed the spot from the west side of the dam on dark nights, the car looked completely real. However, whenever curious visitors or teenagers drove closer to investigate, the vehicle would completely vanish into thin air. As the spot drew crowds of young "ghost-hunters" throughout 1963, local reporter Mike Childers investigated and debunked the phenomenon, explaining that the phantom vehicle was merely an optical illusion created by light reflections and the contours of the dam. #moberlymo #missouri #fyp #trend #viral
