First, yes, I absolutely butchered the name “Binocular Vision Dysfunction” in this video 😂 Moving on… What if your headaches, dizziness, anxiety, or neck tension are actually being triggered by your EYES? 👀 Binocular Vision Dysfunction (BVD) happens when your eyes aren’t coordinating properly, forcing your brain and visual system to work harder to compensate. Symptoms can include: • Headaches or migraines • Dizziness or feeling off-balance • Motion sickness • Eye strain or fatigue • Blurry or double vision • Trouble focusing or reading • Losing your place while reading • Light sensitivity • Feeling overwhelmed in grocery stores or busy environments • Difficulty driving, especially at night • Neck and shoulder tension • Poor depth perception • Feeling disoriented or “off” • Anxiety or panic-like sensations in visually busy spaces For me, there’s another piece to this: I’ve had two concussions. My doctor believes this may be when my binocular vision issues started. Visual and eye-tracking problems can develop after a concussion, sometimes persisting long after the initial injury. There may also be a connection with hypermobility and hEDS. Binocular vision problems have been reported in people with connective tissue disorders, and hEDS can overlap with things like migraine, dysautonomia and cervical issues that may contribute to or amplify visual symptoms. The crazy part? You can have 20/20 vision and still have a problem with how your eyes work together. Depending on the specific dysfunction, treatment may include specialized vision therapy to retrain how the eyes and brain coordinate and/or prism lenses to help with certain alignment problems and reduce the workload on your visual system. If you’ve been chasing headaches, dizziness, motion sensitivity, neck tension, or that weird “my brain doesn’t like what my eyes are seeing” feeling, it may be worth having your binocular vision evaluated. #bvd #bvdtest #binocularvisionmatters #mcas #heds
