Japanese Mc Donald's sell special burger for o-tsukimi a.k.a. Japanese mooncake festival. Just search about tsukimi burger 月見バーガー. So, Mooncake Burger isn't odd. For more healthier alternative, just eat pomelo instead. The original name of festival is Mid Autumn Festival, not Moon Cake Festival, so actually eating mooncake isn't obligatory at all.

for those who dont like typical mooncakes, u might like snowskin mooncakes!! basically a mooncake with mochi-like skin and the core is usually different iirc

I've had genuine homemade mooncakes before and they were delicious. they have this oily richness to them. maybe to chinese people it's kinda like their fruit cake in terms of a seasonal treat that is seen as traditional but despised despite that
