Don't guess this measurement. Calculate it from the client's underbust measurement and distribute the reduction evenly across your pattern pieces. 📍5. Interfacing Matters Even a perfect pattern can fail if you use the wrong interfacing. For a structured bustier: ✔️Use a woven fusible interfacing that provides firm support without making the fabric overly stiff. ✔️For heavier fabrics, a medium-weight woven fusible is often sufficient. ✔️For lighter fabrics, you may combine a quality woven fusible with additional structural support such as canvas or corset backing where appropriate. Avoid very soft interfacing if your goal is a well-defined, snatched bustier--it won't provide enough stability. 📍6. Blend Every Curve The princess seam should flow smoothly from the neckline, over the bust point, through the underbust, and into the waist.
