Genuine question because I’m not British, is Andy Burnham not a neoliberal?

Burnham isn't perfect, but it's hard not to find him refreshing. I saw him talking about the welfare budget earlier and he actually explained his thinking and refused to give simple responses to complex issues. When he speaks about social care reform it seems to come from a place of real, authentic desire to improve lives, and it feels like something that he understands and cares about rather than something that's been focused grouped as most likely to appeal to Reform voters. Whether or not it's true he does feel authentic on an instinctual level, in a similar way that some people see Nigel Farage as authentic. That's a real weak spot for Reform, because their support is wide but spread thin and fragile, so even a slight softening in anti-Labour sentiment from both the left and the right is enough to cause them a lot of electoral damage.

Andy Burnham is actually making me considering voting Labour. Only Jeremy Corbyn has made me vote Labour before.

The election is thankfully too far away for them. If they’ve gone from Heir apparent to third in a year, 2029 is the equivalent of light years (and we all cheered)

I feel like we always hear the ‘end of Farage’ or whatever party he’s leading, it never does and he keeps coming back one way or another

I'm glad the left leaning parties are gaining traction but I've given labour enough chances, they almost won me back with Corby, but I'll be voting Green next GE

A lot of people won't vote for reform and it isn't just the race thing even though that tends to dominate. I'm 42 now but one time when I was young, maybe 20, one of my partners happened to be also a male. We both kept it largely a secret because we both remembered there was 3 nail bombs were planted in London in 1999 by a neo nazi, he was caught and is still in jail thank goodness but he was aiming the bombs at people like us, he was racist but also against LGBT or whatever he probably called us, probably something worse. A few people died and some lost limbs who he might not have wanted to target but didn't care, he hoped to get some of us because some of us would surely have been there. If you are middle aged like me you won't think 1999 is long ago and fear something could happen again like that. Often not just racist they have the incorrect view people a bit different to them are just perverts and even if they don't want to kill us they will want to beat us up or change the law so we go to jail when we haven't caused anyone to be a victim.

I was saying this would be what happened to Reform last year at their height... it's the usual way things go with a Farage led party, they spike early in the period and then taper off the closer to the next GE it gets
