@crmnallyobsessed: Could the Lindsay Clancy case have played a role in another mother’s murder case? Illinois mother Corie Walsh, 40, is accused of killing her 2-year-old son, Barrett, after authorities say the toddler was found hanging in the family’s basement earlier this month. According to prosecutors and court records, Walsh allegedly told police she believed Barrett was the “devil” and the “anti-Christ.” Prosecutors also allege she had made disturbing statements about harming other members of her family, including her three other children and her husband. But one detail raised in court is drawing particular attention: prosecutors say Walsh had become heavily invested in the Lindsay Clancy case. Court records say Walsh was discussing Clancy’s case in a group text with friends until about 12:30 p.m. — roughly 3 1/2 hours before Barrett was found. At the time, jurors were deliberating in Clancy’s trial. Walsh’s attorney says she was actively psychotic at the time of her son’s death and rejects the suggestion that the Clancy case played a role, calling the timing purely coincidental. Walsh has pleaded not guilty to three counts of first-degree murder, all stemming from Barrett's death and is being held without bail. Her attorneys are seeking to have her transferred from jail to a psychiatric hospital. So what, if anything, does the discussion of the Lindsay Clancy case mean for Walsh’s case? That could become an important question as the case moves forward.
