I had been in Jersey City since 1970. My God right now The rents are in the 2000s if you're lucky. Jersey City is the #1 most expensive city in the US now to live in. yes! No 1. This is why people are moving out of state. Who could afford a $2000 ,$3000 rent? New Jersey it's the worst. People are leaving NJ in droves to Texas, North Carolina, Northern Florida....it's sad.

once downtown JC TURNED into a small Manhattan, the rest was to follow. It is extremely expensive. I've been in Union City for 34 years, and worked in downtown JC for 14 years so I know exactly what you mean. 😏

The problem is that everything feels temporary. There are plenty of “luxury” apartments, but hardly any new condos or townhouses for sale. A lot of newcomers don’t seem to be putting down roots; they move here for an apartment, then head to the suburbs once they start a family. The hit it and quit it mentality is ruining the city

this is happening all over the east part of NJ from top to bottom. NetFlix basically owns my town now and there isnt shit the residents can do about this change.2 years ago my house went for 225k... it'll now fetch an easy half a million... none of tjis makes sense and none of this is good for the long run.

oh I just moved here from nyc. I got one of those aprtment thats pre war. ive been looking for the smaller stores. the people around have been so kind but I get it. I left nyc because the same thing happened to harlem, my neighborhood. its so hard to find somewhere to live.💔

Jersey city is gonna be the next Hoboken and they are trying to do the same slowly in Harrison and Kearny , pricing people out for new apartments for transplants & shopping centers. Influencers /nyc moving in bc it’s close to the path 😭

I don’t even recognize the people anymore. I used to recognize who was who and where they lived / neighborhood. They’ve been trying to push us out for these gentrifiers who don’t even bother to explore jc. They just hop on the path and say they’re form the city :/
