Nishika Samaratunga took her children after losing a bitter custody battle. In his first interview, the father describes his fears for the boys’ safety Five months ago, Ben Baier arrived at Heathrow expecting to collect his two young sons. Instead, a messenger handed him a manila envelope. Baier, an American financier who lives near Denver, was awarded full custody of his children, Blaine, five, and Nate, three, last October after an enervating legal battle with his ex-wife, Nishika Samaratunga, in Colorado. The couple had separated a year earlier and Samaratunga, a British citizen and scion of a Sri Lankan tea dynasty, had subsequently moved back to London. Baier was waiting in Terminal 2, ready to take the boys home to Colorado after they had spent a week with their mother 🗣️“I walked into the terminal, and some guy comes up and says, ‘Are you Ben?’” he recalls. “Nishika has done this to me multiple times, so I knew what was coming: he served me with papers.” Baier has not seen his sons since. He does not even know which country they are in. Samaratunga is the subject of an international hunt, accused of abducting her own children #heiress #children #custody #battle #worldnews
