Are you truly fulfilled or just less lonely? Are you able to be unapologetically yourself ? Or Do you feel the need to show up differently to please your partner? Are you in love with who your partner is right now as a whole? Or Are you only in love with their good side, their potential, or the idea of them? Would you want your future or imagined child to date someone like your partner?

for me, it was the knowledge that you can have lack of capacity in emotional matters. maybe its silly, but all of my previous partners have been secure - I didn't really internalize it was something a partner could be bad at if they liked you, or ESPECIALLY if they liked you. _ knowing that they didn't have the ability to give me what I needed changed everything. I was giving him too much credit - he was so kind, so smart, and SO direct and communicative about everything outside of romantic. I was so confused - if you can be that direct with your boss about his expectation for project timelines are not doable but then offer immediate solutions and alternatives, why can't you give me a straight answer to things that are important to me? why can't you say... ANYTHING? _ I thought emotional unavailability was a trope on 90s sitcoms, not something people have in real life.
