@discover_california_: There are few places on the planet that feel as magical to me as Fern Canyon 🥹 You walk through a towering canyon lined with ferns and a beautiful stream that runs through the entire canyon. The canyon feels truly magical when the sun hits the fern walls just right, and you can see the water droplets glisten in the distance. Also, this place feels so untouched and ancient that a few scenes from The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Walking with Dinosaurs were filmed here! 🥾 Hike Details: Fern Canyon Loop - 1.2 miles. - 124ft elevation gain. - less than 1 hour. - Type: Loop. You will very likely get your feet and ankles wet if the seasonal foot bridges aren’t up. Sometimes people build little rock or log bridges you can hop along. 🎟️ You MUST get a permit online if you plan to visit between May 15 and September 15th. The permit is free. 🅿️ A $12 parking fee is required. 🐕 Pets are not allowed in Fern Canyon. Pair Fern Canyon with a picnic on Gold Bluffs Beach, a hike to Gold Dust Falls, or a short hike to Trillium Falls for a full day in Redwood National Park! 🗺️ Want my free 30-spot California bucket list guide?
