It is finally October. After months of being told that I was “dressed a little early,” I am now officially seasonally appropriate. Naturally, Mommy celebrated this important occasion by announcing that we had errands. Our first stop was Fork Union Pharmacy. I agreed to attend under one condition: If I see Christmas decorations, I am going home. Mommy explained that we are already away from home, and therefore going home would require her participation. Details. I have recently learned that Fork Union Pharmacy is known not only for being our little local pharmacy, but also for having a rather impressive selection of seasonal things. Excellent. I enjoy seasonal things. The current season is Halloween. I feel this distinction is important. So I arrived appropriately dressed and prepared to conduct an inspection. Pumpkins? Approved. Bats? Strongly encouraged. Skeletons? Obviously. Witches? Please direct me to management. I have networking to do. Christmas trees? Ma’am. It is October first. Put that back. Mommy says businesses are allowed to sell whatever they want. Mommy has opinions. Mommy has been wrong before. I waited all year for the brief period during which everyone else dresses like me. I will not have Christmas encroaching upon my jurisdiction before I have even had lunch. Anyway. We are going inside.
