i mean wally has had speed powers since he was young (10-13 depending on the comic) while barry got it in his 20s, i get that it sounds unfair but wally basically grew up with the power so ofc he got to have a better hold of it, plus considering the amount of times barry just disappears into the speedforce or wtv else it makes sense to me that during his absence wally got to learn how to be faster

I hate how nightwing is always said to have surpassed batman in everyway, but writers never show that. Like they'll say that Nightwing is stronger than batman and then will proceed to disrespect him in everyway possible

Legacy is my favorite aspect of the DC universe, Dick Grayson, Wally West, Kyle Rayner, the purpose of a teacher is to pass on their knowledge. Dick specifically was the perfect counterpart for Bruce to pass on his skillset, he was always going to be better because of Bruce’s example and Alfred’s guidance + the connections he was able to make along the way. Clark, the Titans, his siblings, all helped him grow into what he became; the perfect embodiment of the trinity’s ideals, Superman’s morals, Diana’s compassion, and Bruce’s methods. It’s who he was meant to be, the head of his generation of heroes, the heir to the cowl, to surpassing the mantle of Batman and becoming his own symbol.

The “successor” should be trained as the successor. Trained to take over. Not just become the next one in place of the old. Most “successors” aren’t actually successors. They are just people trained by the original. Terry McGinnis, he was trained to be Batman. Regular sidekicks should branch out and become their own heroes just like dick Grayson did.

Flash is probably the worst example of this. wally has been flash longer than anyone else in mainstream. and most adaptations pre CW adapted wally, because he was universally more well liked than Barry. and most adaptations of Barry since cw, including CW, take Wally's character and past it onto Barry's storylines to meld the fact people just like wally more

You absolutely got it with this, the successor stories are only meaningful if we see the work just as hard as the original and then make something for themselves Nightwing is the best example because there have been times where he's had to be batman and did great at the job but it still was as good as Bruce and when Bruce needed to be nightwing he did a great job but not as good as Dick

Idk if it’s just me but dick Grayson nightwing is my goat and in some comics he’s the true version that he was meant to be the one who learned everything from Batman and more from the teen titans and is now the fastest and strongest hang to hand martial artist. He’s not Batman he’s better
