Hear me out right. Herobrine is future Steve. He went back into the past to stop steve progressing through minecraft updates where he eventually breaks containment as we are seeing now through the multiverse. He does this because future steve (herobrine) eventually subdugates, conquers and kills every known being, planet and ecosystem in the known multiverse. Herobrine then has an awakening in the lone void of the cosmos and realises there is nothing left and he has become no better than the mobs he used to fight. Infact he realises even mobs look innocent compared to his actions. Driven by guilt he travels back in time and tries to scare steve into stop playing minecraft. But in doing so he creates a paradox, he traveled back in time to stop steve escaping minecraft but in doing so he made steve so scared of minecraft he was driven to progress and escape. However he can never make direct contact or him and steve will merge like in rick and morty and destroy time itself. So he sits alone. Watching you smelt glass and iron. Knowing the only thing he can do is sit and watch the horror of his actions unfold

@Cleo:I have a theory. Steve is going from universe to universe to hunt Herobrine but Herobrine no longer exists. The reason he's looking is because Herobrine killed Alex after Steve rejected his offer for multiversal travel. Steve goes insane over a millenia and then goes back to the past to give his younger self his knowledge on how to beat Herobrine but his younger self rejects it and in a fit of rage Steve kills Alex becoming Herobrine and subsequently wiped from existence at the moment of it trapping Steve in a loop where he is his own worst enemy
