Location tags help local reach, and most of us have been skipping that little Location button for years. Since February 2026, TikTok has a Local tab right on the home screen, and it shows people what's happening near them, including posts from local creators like you. Here's why that matters. TikTok says your public posts may reach people in the city or region where you posted or tagged a location. That's a whole new crowd, and it has nothing to do with how many followers you have right now. Think about how it feels when you see someone from your own town on TikTok. That's my street. That's my coffee shop. It feels personal, and that's the kind of video people stop for. More local eyes means more chances at new followers, more comments, and numbers that finally start moving. Now think like a local business owner. Coffee shops, restaurants, nail salons, spas, and hotels all want people in town to see them. A creator who already tags the area and shows it off is exactly who they'd want to work with. Your tagged videos become a portfolio they can find, and that can open the door to a trade for services or a paid video. TikTok GO also pays commission to eligible creators, 18 and older with at least 1,000 followers, when their tagged posts drive bookings at participating hotels, attractions, and local services. Check Monetization in your app to see if it's open to you. ✅ TAG YOUR CITY BEFORE YOU POST ✅ On the post screen, tap Location. ✅ Search your city, your town, or the local spot where you filmed. ✅ Tap it to add it, then post like normal. ✅ Keep your account public. Private accounts don't show up there. ✅ Want to see the Local tab yourself? Turn on precise location and look for the new tab on your home screen. 📊 FEED THE MACHINE TikTok decides what shows up in the Local tab using three things: where the viewer is, what your video is about, and when you posted it. Your location tag answers the first one, and a clear caption answers the second. Here's the sweet part. The Local tab is off until someone turns it on, so the people scrolling it chose to see what's nearby. Those are your neighbors, your future regulars, and the folks who might actually meet you, shop with you, or hire you. Small towns, big cities, and everything in between, your neighbors are scrolling too. Go say hi. If you have questions send me a message. I am happy to help. New tips land here regularly.
