It doesn't matter who came first.” But we need to ask an important question: WHICH CHURCH CAN TRACE ITS ORIGINS BACK TO JESUS CHRIST AND THE APOSTLES? He established a Church and entrusted His Apostles with the mission of teaching and making disciples. 📖 MATTHEW 16:18 “Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” 📖 EPHESIANS 2:19-20 The Church is built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Jesus Christ Himself as the chief cornerstone. 📖 1 TIMOTHY 3:15 The Church is called “the pillar and ground of the truth.” 📖 2 PETER 1:20 “No prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.” The Catholic Church traces its origins to Jesus Christ and the Apostles nearly 2,000 years ago. Throughout history, other Christian traditions and denominations emerged at different times. Of course, being the oldest does not automatically prove every teaching true. But historical continuity, apostolic origins, and fidelity to the teachings of Christ are important questions we must seriously consider. So, instead of asking only, “Does the age of the Church matter?” let us ask: “WHICH CHURCH HAS REMAINED CONNECTED TO THE APOSTLES AND THE FAITH THEY RECEIVED FROM JESUS CHRIST?” Because Christianity did not begin with modern denominations.
