This lasted for more than 30minutes. My First Experience Handling a Baby with a Febrile Seizure Having three kids, this was my first time experiencing a febrile seizure, and it was pure panic and chaos. If you ever find yourself in this situation, here’s what you need to know and do: 1.	Try to stay calm (as much as possible). 2.	Check the baby’s mouth and throat for any obstruction or choking hazard. 3.	Lay the baby on their side (preferably the left) on a flat surface. This helps prevent saliva from pooling and entering the lungs. 4.	Do not forcefully restrain their stiff arms or legs. 5.	Loosen their clothing—if possible, remove all clothing and leave only a diaper on. 6.	Gently wipe their entire body with a damp cloth to help regulate temperature. 7.	Wait it out while preparing to go to the hospital. 8.	If the seizure lasts more than 5 minutes, seek immediate medical attention. What I Learned Today: •	Babies as young as one month old can be given paracetamol (PCM) for fever. •	Seizures can occur with or without a fever. •	Febrile seizures (caused by fever) are usually harmless, while non-febrile seizures are more concerning and should be checked by a doctor. •	A simple seizure lasts around 3 minutes and is generally not dangerous. •	A complex seizure lasts more than 20 minutes and requires urgent medical attention. •	Seizures become dangerous when the baby chokes on their own saliva, which can lead to aspiration pneumonia (fluid in the lungs) or oxygen deprivation. A lack of oxygen can cause organ damage. During a seizure, babies cannot breathe properly, which is why it’s crucial to monitor them closely and ensure their airway remains clear. #seizureawareness
