Figure did something absolutely wild with its retired humanoid robots. 🤯🔥 Instead of dismantling its F.02 fleet, Figure trained the robots to autonomously jump into a 75-ton electric arc furnace filled with molten steel in Imatra, Finland. And yes this was real. Figure says the robots were: 🤖 Trained to jump in simulation 🦘 Practiced with airbags at its San Jose campus 🏭 Sent to a foundry the team had never visited 🔥 Given only six furnace melts across 24 hours ⚡ Operating despite extreme heat and electromagnetic interference The reason? Figure wanted to decommission the F.02 fleet while protecting proprietary hardware and freeing engineering resources for its next-generation robots. The resulting metal bars are being turned into a limited series of F.02 commemorative artifacts. And there is a serious robotics story behind the crazy video: Figure had to train a jump policy that could transfer from simulation to a completely unfamiliar real-world environment and accurately land the robot in the furnace.
