🚨💔 SCHEDULED FOR EUTHANASIA 2/14 @ 2PM 💔🚨 She walked in with her friend. Two dogs. Same day. Same intake. Same story. Ethel made it out. Lucy is still sitting in Kennel D41. Her name is Lucy. She is one year and six months old. A large, beautiful tricolor Australian Cattle Dog mix with intelligent, searching eyes. She came in as a stray on February 2, alongside Ethel. They entered together. They faced the same noise, the same stress, the same uncertainty. But only one of them left. Lucy developed a mild upper respiratory infection, something incredibly common in crowded shelters. Her notes say she is bright, alert, and eating well. She has mild white nasal discharge and is now on doxycycline. She's healing. And yet she is the one scheduled to die. I cannot help but ask the question. When dogs come in together and one is rescued, is the rescue desk fully communicating that there was a second dog? Are rescues being told clearly that a kennel mate is still sitting there? Or is Lucy simply being overlooked? Because when pairs enter together and only one walks out, something went wrong somewhere. Lucy watched her friend leave. She stayed behind in that kennel, alone, with a simple URI that is being treated, while a clock now hangs over her head. She does not understand why the door opened for Ethel and not for her. She only knows she is still waiting. This is her Hail Mary moment. Kennel D41 Animal Donate for pet's food, treatment, and blankets for our rescues at the Shelter Donation Link In Bio
