@theargentgroup: In 2002, Elon Musk went to Russia looking to buy rockets. He was quoted roughly $8 million per rocket. He left without buying one. Instead, Musk returned to the U.S. and founded SpaceX, putting about $100 million of his own money into the company. Then the plan nearly collapsed. SpaceX’s first three launches failed. The company was running out of cash, and the fourth launch was effectively the last chance to prove the rockets could work. This time, it reached orbit. Six weeks later, NASA awarded SpaceX a $1.6 billion contract. The sequence was brutal: $8M per rocket quoted in Russia. $100M invested into SpaceX. 3 failed launches. 1 successful launch. $1.6B NASA contract. Musk did not respond to the Russian price by simply paying it. He built a company to develop the rockets himself, then kept funding it through three consecutive failures until the fourth launch succeeded. That fourth launch changed everything.
