The market was mixed today. The Dow was down, while the S&P rose 22 points. But what caught my attention wasn’t the overall movement—it was Hilton. Earnings season has been underwhelming. PayPal, Chipotle, Alphabet, and AMD all dropped after their reports. Then Amazon released earnings after the bell. Although the company beat expectations on revenue and earnings, its forecast disappointed investors, sending the stock lower. That’s why Hilton stood out. The CEO shared that business travel, leisure travel, and events have all been on the rise. On top of that, Hilton has been expanding aggressively, opening two new hotels every day in 2024. Brands like Waldorf Astoria and Canopy fall under Hilton’s umbrella, making it a strong player in the hospitality space. I might be adding this one to my watchlist. If you’re considering it, compare it to competitors like Marriott and Hyatt. Let’s keep an eye on the entire sector and see where it goes from here.
