@theargentgroup: Imagine your internet switching between satellites moving at nearly 27,000 km/h, without you even noticing! Unlike traditional internet connections that rely on fixed cables or towers, Starlink uses thousands of satellites orbiting Earth. These satellites travel through low Earth orbit at altitudes of roughly 550 kilometres, moving at incredible speeds of around 27,000 km/h. But here's the fascinating part! Because these satellites are constantly moving across the sky, a single satellite cannot remain connected to the same location indefinitely. Instead, Starlink's system automatically transfers the connection from one satellite to another as they pass overhead. This process, known as a satellite handover, helps maintain internet service without requiring users to reconnect manually. Starlink's electronically steered antennas can rapidly adjust their signals to communicate with different satellites. Your internet connection can keep working while the satellites providing it are constantly changing! However, seamless service is not guaranteed. Obstructions, network congestion, and satellite coverage can still cause interruptions. Sources - Starlink, SpaceX, Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
