@thehiddenchapteer: My husband used to crack jokes before his brother, saying, "You can have my wife, I'm so sick of her already" — until his brother taught him a lesson. Matt, Kevin's brother, needed a place to stay while his house was being remodeled. Kevin and I agreed to host him without hesitation. However, as soon as Matt moved in, Kevin started making jokes about me in front of him. The jokes seemed friendly at first. When I mentioned the electric bill, Kevin would glance at Matt and say: "See what marriage does to you? You constantly owe a ton of money." If I asked to take out the trash, Kevin sighed in front of Matt and said: "Still sure you want to get married someday? You'll end up being a servant like this." In the beginning, we laughed about it. But soon, the frequency and sting of the jokes increased. One day, I asked Kevin privately to stop joking like this, as it bothered me. Just then, Matt walked out, and Kevin laughed: "See? She doesn't even understand jokes anymore. That's why you should never get married — you won't even be allowed to joke in your own house!" Matt, ever courteous, appeared uneasy. He clearly didn’t wish to interfere or cause any issues between us. Eventually, Kevin went a step too far one evening. I called everyone for the dinner I had prepared. Earlier in the day, I had cleaned the house, managed the children’s school drop-off and pick-up, helped them with homework, fed them, tidied up, did laundry, and got them to bed. We gathered at the table. Just as Matt and Kevin were seated, water started pouring out from under the kitchen sink. It spread across the whole floor in no time. We managed to turn off the water and contain the leak. I took a moment and said: "Kevin, I've been asking you for weeks to replace that leaking supply line under the sink. And now it finally burst." He merely shrugged: "And what have you been doing? You could've done it yourself by now. You sit at home all day." I did my best to remain calm. "Kevin, I've been busy all day today. And I've been asking you for weeks to take care of that leak. This problem has been there for a while." He rolled his eyes at Matt: "Do you happen to want to get married? You can have my wife — I'm so sick of her already. She's always telling me what to do." I was left speechless. Before a word left my mouth, Matt smiled and replied: "You know what, Kevin? You're right. Let's sit down at the table and have dinner." So we did. The doorbell rang. Matt went and answered. His awaited guest had come. Kevin turned a deep shade of red when he saw who had arrived. His embarrassment was completely obvious, almost as if he were visible from outer space. #viral #fblifestyle See less
