Three years ago, this tiny heart changed my life forever. Before Cyrus ever learned to walk, run, or say “Momma,” his heart was already fighting. He was born with congenital heart defects. From the very beginning, our lives became filled with cardiology appointments, echocardiograms, heart monitors, hospital admissions, medications, and the constant uncertainty of what the next appointment would bring. As a baby, his heart worked so hard that it affected his ability to grow. He struggled to gain weight and eventually needed a G-tube to help him get the nutrition his body needed. Every ounce he gained felt like a victory. Today, watching him lie on that exam table for yet another echocardiogram, you would never know how much this little boy has been through. He climbs up without fear, lays still while the pictures are taken, and flashes that sweet smile like it’s just another day. To him, this is normal. To me, it’s a reminder of how incredibly strong he is. Congenital heart disease doesn’t always look dramatic. Sometimes it looks like endless follow-up appointments, routine imaging, medications, monitoring, and learning to celebrate every “stable” report. It means knowing that even when things are going well, his heart will always need to be watched. I will never stop being amazed by this little warrior. His heart may have been born different, but it has never stopped fighting—and neither will we. ❤️ #CHDAwareness #CongenitalHeartDisease #HeartWarrior #HeartMom #coffinsirissyndrome
