@bayaaninstitute: You memorize the Qur’an… but do you understand what you’re reciting? Allah says: أَفَلَا يَتَدَبَّرُونَ الْقُرْآنَ أَمْ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبٍ أَقْفَالُهَا “Then do they not reflect upon the Qur’an, or are there locks upon their hearts?” (Surah Muhammad 47:24) Memorizing the Qur’an is a tremendous blessing, but memorization should not come at the expense of understanding. The Qur’an was revealed to be recited, memorized, understood, reflected upon, and acted upon. And one of the greatest tools to help you truly understand the words of Allah is learning the Arabic language. As Muslims, we shouldn’t have to choose between memorizing the Qur’an and understanding it.
