@thinkpiecetribe2: A media lesson in discernment & the neoliberal cooption of postcolonialism & its figures…#fyp #foryoupage

townsraisedme :

Did you say ishowspeed?

Spencer :

And as a Ghanaian, there were many flaws of Kwame Nkrumah(wanting Ghana to modernize, failing to adequately condemn 🇿🇦apartheid violence, declaring himself president of life). He wasn’t as radical as people think, but they are going to co-op his message around pan-Africanism that benefits Obama’s image

Franck :

Saw their names and immediately knew shit was cooked

unReal. :

I completely agree and they're using speed to sell it to the youth, pathetic attempt to brainwash people....

Miyagi>>> :

Yea bro right when I saw Obama I knew what it was

Hip-Hop and AI :

This film has been out for 18+ months on the festival circuit, before Speed or The Obamas were brought in to help market it. It's an amazing doc. Sometimes we be so woke that we get rocked to sleep.

Kbandzz :

What books or articles should I read bc I don’t know anything about Kwame Nkrumah…

jawn🤾‍♂️ :

did you say Obama?

Coco !! 💜 :

Ts finna be horridddd 😭😭😭

safewaterforall :

I thought the exact same thing. It's gonna be whitewashed as fuck.

StayMello :

Actually it was worse I think Hilary said “we came, we saw, he di3d” talking about Ghadaffi’s death

CHEAPER :

Speed sold out

Deus :

the movie isn’t even out yet

Jordan Betine :

Ive seen the film already. Its none of these things. It’s a film about a photographer and Filmmaker. Most of it is about repairing an old movie theater in Accra.

Fred with the Head :

Immediately dropped to my knees when I saw by the Obamas💔

GGIOSTILLBLACK :

Elite capture

Zilch :

saw gerrera’s fuel :

So this is one of the films that I watched at AFI Fest because it was in the lineup. Found out who the EPs were day of, and your analysis is correct. It’s watered down for sure.

Parker :

Honestly I’m thinking about how it’s being distributed. Is it having a wide release in theaters across Ghana? Across West Africa? Are they going to make sure it’s shown in villages in the north of Ghana that don’t have the same infrastructure? I think it’s important for this filmmaker’s work to be shown everywhere in the world, but who is the audience? Why are you (the person reading this comment) the person this film is being advertised to?

AboveAverageNM :

I hope it's not too bad because I do really want to watch this mainly to see the archival footage and beauty of Ghana early days of Independence
