I really want to recommend the TV show “crazy ex-girlfriend”. As far as I know, this is the only show I’ve seen to deconstruct romcoms and romance. It’s really funny, really bold and brilliantly written. They also have three musical numbers per episode, which are insanely hilarious. Highly highly recommend.

in my experience, losing my faith in god, also made me lose my faith in thinking there was someone meant for me, like it killed all my illusions and made me very objective and lowkey pessimistic, it feels like everything its on me completely

Relationships are more like lessons in my opinion, I see other people as a way to get closer to god. Romance can be true, but i dont think it’s that important in the long run

This feels kinda sad and reductionist… romance for me makes me think about Badiou’s idea of the event and then romance being built after that through a two-scene, through difference. That kind of romance , kind of soul mate doesn’t reflect a religious like thing at all, it’s two people building love through difference. I think that if you define romance through savior or salvation then yes, but my idea of a soul mate and I think there are many out there is someone you make a life with in the Badiou sense :)
