I’m in Northern Ocean County and I refer to it as the Jersey Shore. To me South Jersey is anywhere south of Ocean County and north is anything north of the Woodbridge bridge.

Genau deshalb ist die übliche Rechnung „Klimaschutz kostet Milliarden“ so schief. Die Alternative zu Investitionen ist nicht: nichts ausgeben. Die Alternative heißt: später Milliarden ausgeben, um Schäden zu beseitigen – und danach keinen Schritt weiter zu sein. Die Rechnung von @greenpeace.de mit 36 bis 42 Milliarden Euro für einen Extremsommer zeigt, wie teuer dieses Reparieren werden kann. Die Frage lautet also nicht nur: Wie viel kosten Klimaschutz und Klimaanpassung? Sondern: Wo verhindert jeder investierte Euro mehr zukünftigen Schaden, als er kostet? Denn zwischen 10 Milliarden für neue Infrastruktur und 10 Milliarden für kaputte Infrastruktur liegt ein gewaltiger Unterschied. Das eine baut Zukunft. Das andere bezahlt die Vergangenheit.
