the tragedy of baby jane hudson 🥀 What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? is a 1962 American psychological horror thriller film directed by Robert Aldrich, starring Bette Davis and Joan Crawford. It follows an aging former child star and her paraplegic sister, also a former film star, in a dilapidated Hollywood mansion. In this 60’s horror classic, Bette Davis gives one of her most unforgettable performances as Baby Jane. In this edit, my goal is not to excuse any of Jane's actions, but to show how ultimately tragic her story is. To begin, she was an exploited child star, shielded from the reality of the world by the words of her father, who insisted she would always be a talented. But real life took over as she grew up, the industry said she was a failure and could never be a success again, and her sister Blanche was the one to take over the spotlight, celebrated as one of the best artists of the time. And then an accident happened, and Blanche became paraplegic. The world - including Blanche herself - told Jane she was guilty for it. She was a horrible person, doing such a terrible thing to her own sister. Jane believed every word. She became the monster she was told she was. ‘’You were not ugly then, I made you that way’’ - Blanche confessed in her last moments. That whole time, they could have been friends. That’s what makes What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? not only a horror, but also a devastating picture. #whateverhappenedtobabyjane #bettedavis #oldhollywood #horrormovie #filmedit
