I think some of this might just be area you grew up in. I grew up in the PNW, Portlandish area and I definitely grew up going to thrift/second hand stores, as did my friends.

PLEASE stop poking my trauma 😅 literally all my clothes came from thrift stores and everyone knew it. I wasn't even allowed to pick which ones I wanted bc the color of the tag and what day of the week it was were the only factors my mother allowed. IYKYK
