"I will spend the rest of my life finding ways to keep it alive, to share your story, and to make other people's lives a little brighter because you were here." Those were Holly's words to her daughter, Halle. A promise from a mother who had just said goodbye. Halle had been waiting on a liver transplant. Before it could happen, doctors found leukemia, and the surgery was canceled. What followed came fast. Swelling in her brain. Organ failure. Chemotherapy, started while her family prayed her liver would bounce back. Holly and her husband never stopped fighting for their daughter. Neither did her doctors. But the complications kept coming, and Halle's body could not keep up. She passed peacefully. Holly held her. Halle was wrapped in her special blanket with her Teddy, and her dad and Eve were there with her. Holly struggled to understand any of it. Not long before, Halle had been beautiful, healthy and active. She found a little peace in one thought. Halle was not suffering anymore. Still, she could not imagine her days without the daughter who made every room brighter. So many people prayed for Halle in her final days. Now her mother needs that same love. Rest easy, Halle.
