@dailymailuk: Drivers are set to get new rights to challenge unfair private parking charges under a new government code of practice. 🚨 The Government has announced updated rules for private parking firms, capping the maximum charge at £100 and securing a five-minute period for drivers to decide whether to park. Motorists will also receive a ten-minute grace period to leave a car park without penalty after their session ends. The new code ensures drivers can successfully appeal charges caused by circumstances outside their control, like vehicle breakdowns, medical emergencies, or broken ticket machines. Simple mistakes such as minor typos in registration numbers or forgotten permits will now be capped at a maximum £20 fine on appeal. Prime Minister Andy Burnham stated the measures aim to protect motorists from unfair fines for minor oversights. Private operators who fail to comply with these standardized rules risk losing access to DVLA records, restricting their ability to enforce unauthorized penalties. What do you think of these changes?
