I’m not a fan of insurance companies by any means. That being said, I have leukemia. I’m 4 months in. Two incomes. Did everything right. The type of insurance where you feel safe. I’ve paid like $1,000.

“Oh but you’re not entitled to someone’s free labour!!” Okay but how do you think everywhere else does it?? Healthcare should be free at the POINT OF USE!! Yes, I understand that it comes out of my taxes. Do I care?? No, I’m still paying less than you are for health insurance that MIGHT cover your injuries. If they feel like it. I’d much rather be paying what 20% of my wages for EVERYONE to have access to healthcare than being able to afford everything BUT healthcare.

Humana’s NEW CEO had a first year salary of 19 million (that’s 19,000,000) not counting bonuses. That was his FIRST year on the job

I‘m to european to understand, why this is still a problem in the US and why so many people there see healthcare as „socalism“ and why that is bad.

I’m baffled as to why we haven’t started erecting scaffolding in our town squares and in the streets outside insurance office buildings.

This genuinely scares me because it can happen to literally anyone. What would me and my family be able to do if one of us got cancer? there would be nothing we could do

This is an insurance racket problem not a free healthcare problem. If we give these companies a blank check they will continue to charge these ridiculous fees to the government.

UK here, lost my mum and mum in law to cancer was heartbreaking but the NHS provided care during chemo and hospice care for end of life. Gave me and my wife time with them we will never get back. The NHS isn't perfect but we still have our savings, house and we didn't need to do anything for the treatments and care to continue all the way to the end, how anyone can be against universal healthcare is beyond me, this stuff can and probably will happen to everyone.

Why do people defend it? Because to most of them, this has never happened. Humans care solely for themselves and refuse action in most cases until inaction affects them.

America doesn't have a health care system. They have an investor care system - if they can't make a profit from your illness or injury you're not going to get well on their nickel

At 52 I got a headache. Within a year, multiple hospitalizations, surgeries, all the things, I lost my ability to walk, lost my job, my home, my savings, everything. Had done everything right until then, had great credit. Had to file bankruptcy because what insurance wouldn’t cover of my initial emergency surgery couldn’t have been paid off in my lifetime. Ended up couch surfing with friends while recovering and going through becoming fully disabled. Took 2 more years for the government to approve that I was in fact too disabled to work- they covered themselves saying immediately I was ineligible for unemployment because I was too sick to work, but apparently not sick enough to get approved for any other income for over 2 years. Everything about healthcare in this country is a cruel joke.

I am 58 years old and have worked for the U.S. government my whole adult life and literally met thousands of people during this time...never, not once have I ever heard of this happening to anyone! My son just had a surgery that cost 164k and I paid 89 bucks out of pocket! Is this happening because people just have crappy insurance or is government insurance just that good?

if the majority of people canceled thier insurance, and refused to buy it anymore, this would stop. they are NOTHING w/o us!! they need our money to stay open. we have the ability to make real change. let these companies go under! thats the only way to make real change. they need us to exist 😘
