Please understand that legal migrants pay heavily to qualify for ILR after 5 years, including visa fees, IHS, National Insurance and taxes. ILR is not free/cheap, and the journey is already difficult enough. Some migrants cannot even bring their dependants, yet they work hard, some care for the elderly and vulnerable. Their sacrifices deserve recognition and fairness. Retroactive change is not fair! Keep to your commitment! @Andy Burnham
