@themodernmidwife: Does your provider ever make you feel rushed? You deserve to have your concerns heard, your questions answered, and your provider’s full attention during your appointment. But unfortunately, that’s not always what happens. A lot of OB/GYN clinics schedule 20+ patients per provider every day, and sometimes even more. Why? Part of the problem is that insurance companies reimburse so little for office visits that clinics often rely on high patient volumes just to keep the lights on. And unfortunately, you’re the one who feels the impact. Short appointments, rushed conversations, and leaving with questions you never got to ask. You deserve better than that. #pregnancy #midwife #obgyn #healthcare #healthinsurance

Me with 22 patients just absolutely YAPPING. My MA pretending to be another doctor to fake an emergency to get me out the room and me being like “I’ll show you my wedding photos at the next appointment”.

I felt so bad for my midwife. She was always late and stressed. I think she just had a massive caseload. She was so kind and always spent like an hour with me. She delivered 4 babies after a 12 hour shift, sick, the night my daughter was born. She quit a month after I saw her the last time. She was an absolutely an amazing midwife and I want to punch whoever runs the hospital for overworking her.

I was so excited to have a nurse midwife with my last pregnancy. The care was so bad due to the amount of patients they had ton see on a daily basis. In their defense, it was 1000% not the midwifes lack of care but the mamanagement of the hospital. My needs as patient weren't met 😭😭😭 I had to transfer due to medical negligence on the hospitals part in my second trimester. I still have PTSD driving by that hospital. This also result in me delivering my daughter on the side of the road because we had to drive almost an hour to the other hospital 🤣 But she came out healthy and happy and my dream of delivering my own baby got to happen so a mama can't be too mad!

sooo real 😭 I feel for our providers, there’s just not enough time in the day to see everyone and keep up with admin tasks. I wish it was possible to decrease the number of patients seen per day, however, with high caseloads and patient panels, more patients would be booked out farther due to limited slot availability.
