I'm not teaching anything mid-meltdown, because nobody's brain is ready to listen when they're that worked up. Later in the day, once everyone's calm, I sit down with both of them, the one who was doing it and the one who was receiving it. We talk about what happened, why it was annoying/disrespectful, and why we're not going to do it anymore. And I always connect before I correct. I'll snuggle up, get on their level, and keep it light and warm. It's a conversation, not a lecture and my goal is for them to actually hear me, not tune me out.
