@wolf.method: This is called “Epistemic Asymmetry” better known as the Curse of Knowledge. And it explains why intelligent people suffer from chronic inertia: THE MENTAL SYMPHONY When an inexperienced person decides to launch a project, send an email, or make a call, they only hear the beat: Action A leads to Output B. Low cognitive overhead. THE COGNITIVE NOISE When you know too much, your brain involuntarily simulates all 14 failure modes, 3 edge cases, historical precedents, and social consequences before your hand touches the keyboard. You aren't just sending an email; you're conducting a 40-piece orchestra of risk. THE ILLUSION OF COMPLEXITY As Louis Wolf wrote in Between Knowing and Achieving (p. 44): "Genuine analysis has the texture of focused curiosity; noise has the texture of anxiety disguised as rigour." You think you are "analyzing." In reality, your brain is drowning in irrelevant data it already knows. THE FIX: Action does not require you to turn down your intelligence. It requires you to lower the resolution. Stop trying to manage the entire symphony. The world only ever rewards the tap on the table. Comment the one simple task you’ve turned into a symphony this week. Then go do the tap. #psychology #overthinking #decisionfatigue #procrastination
